An undisclosed Hawke’s Bay buyer paid $538,875 for 23.2895 hectares (57.50 acres) of bare land in Gilligan Rd, Pakowhai, at a public auction yesterday.
The land, offered in two blocks on behalf of Linmont Farm Ltd, was described as naturally fertile and suitable for a variety of intensive horticulture, berry or orcharding programmes.
One block of 11.8319 hectares (29.25 acres) sold for $10,600 an acre and the other of 11.4576 hectares (28.25 acres) went for $8100 an acre.
The auction was conducted by Wrightson NMA Ltd and was held at the DB Te Mata, Havelock North.
