Newspaper Article – A Thoughtful Gesture

A Thoughtful Gesture.

A thoughtful gesture by three patriotic women at the Woodville station yesterday was greatly appreciated by two sick and wounded soldiers who have recently returned from overseas. The men were travelling on the Wellington-Gisborne Express, and when the train pulled up at the station the women handed them baskets containing plates and cutlery and an excellent lunch of meats and salad and tea. The gesture of giving lunch to sick and wounded men travelling on the trains by the women of Woodville has now  become quite a usual practice.
