J. NEWBIGIN (Wellington) captured four wickets for 30 against Wellington College Old Boys, including the “hat trick” in his performance.  He took three for 27 in the first innings.

A Christ’s College product, Newbigin first took his place in the Wellington senior eleven at the beginning of last season, taking four wickets for 43 against Midland in his first innings.  He appeared in five matches altogether to finish with 11 wickets at 22 runs each, three for 19 against Onslow at the end of the season being his best effort. To date this season he has taken 16 wickets, including three for 33 v Johnsonville and four for 53 v Institute.

His record reads:-

Batting. – Innings 9, not out 3, highest score 14, runs 39, average 6.50.

Bowling. – Wickets 57, runs 461, average 17.07.
