Newspaper Article – Captains

CAPTAINS

OF the field captains operating in the Napier-Hastings competition, and there are nine of them, Dalton, Technical Old Boys, and Clothier, Napier H.S.O.B., are the only ones so far who have been observed to take proper control on the field. Dalton impresses most in that respect so far. He has personality, is assertive, but pleasantly so, can outline a plan of compaign [campaign], and see that it is carried out. This was proved on Saturday, but the great secret with a forward captain, if he is to be successful, is that he must be a “come on” forward, and not a “go on” one. Dalton was a real leader in Hastings last Saturday.
