Club honours veteran cricketer

Mr Jim Newbigin was elected a life member of the Old Boys-Hastings Cricket Club at the annual meeting.

Mr Newbigin still plays for the club, which he joined in 1954.

He captained the senior eleven for five seasons, guiding the team to three successive championships in the early 1960s.

Mr Newbigin served on the management committee for 15 years, was club captain and is still a vice-president.

Another vice-president, Mr Lloyd Singleton, presented him with a silver salver and goblets at the annual dinner.
