Newspaper Article – Four Stratford Nurses Farewelled

Four Stratford Nurses Farewelled

Four nursing sisters who are leaving Stratford to take positions at Auckland and Gisborne were farewelled in the Masonic Hall at a social evening arranged by the nursing staff of the Stratford Hospital.  The nurses honoured were Sisters M. Bunny, D. Lilley, G. A. Richards and E. Leipts [Leipst].

The popularity of the sisters and the esteem in which they were held by both the nursing staff and the many friends they had made at Stratford were referred to by Nurse J. Kenny, who presented the guests of honour with gifts and shoulder sprays.

Dancing and community singing was held and items were given by members of the nursing staff.  Dance extras were played by Mrs. J. Curtis and Messrs. M. Feek and M. Thompson.  The hall was decorated by Sister McDonald and other helpers.
