Akina Rovers Retain Williams Cup and Assume Sole Leadership

Excellent grounds and fine weather conditions enabled players to give their best on Saturday in the intertown hockey competitions. There were no major surprises and small scores were evident in the senior division and tall scoring in the lower grades.

Akina Rovers were hard put to defeat Scinde who put up a splendid fight in what was also a Williams Cup challenge match. Akina Rovers retaining the cup by three goals to nil. Players who showed up in this game were, Akina Rovers, D. Spence and B. Murdoch, Scinde, P. Cassin and goalie.

Karori had an even tussle with Kiwi though Kiwi were perhaps unfortunate to lose. N. Dyer, goalie for Karori, proved a tower of strength to his team.

Pirates, playing good hockey, proved too strong for Ruru, winning by a comfortable margin.
