Newspaper Article – Mayoral Portrait
The former Mayor of Hastings, Mr J. J. O’Connor, standing, poses for his official portrait with Christchurch artist Mr Bill Sutton.
Mr O’Connor spent most of last week sitting for Mr Sutton in his studio.
The portrait will no be ready for about a month. It will hang alongside other mayoral portraits in the foyer of the council chambers.
Mr O’Connor was mayor between 1974 and 1986.
