Newspaper Article 1980 – “Robbie” managing to get by on three cylinders

Radio personality Mr Powell Robinson, below, never lets the state of his health stand in the way of taping his Motoring with Robbie radio show.

Robbie taped two of the programmes from his Hastings hospital bed today with the help of Bay City Radio announcer Murray Lindsay and nurse Mrs Marie Beattie.

Robbie broke his leg more than a week ago, when he was cleaning his car. “I was reeling up the hose when I stepped back and tripped,” he said.

The radio show is broadcast nation-wide and Robbie plans to tape two more of the programmes next week.

“If they haven’t let me out of hospital by then I will tape two more programmes next Wednesday and then play it by ear from there,” he said.
