TE MATA SHIELD

NAPIER, POPORANGA [POPORANGI] & CRAGGY RANGE TEAMS COMPETE

FIRST ROUND FIRED

The first round of the Te Mata Challenge Team Shield Match was held at Craggy Range over the weekend. Conditions were very difficult at times as the wind was continually chopping and changing about.

The Craggy Range team managed to establish a lead with a total of 644 points. Poporangi were next with 632 points and then Napier with 618 points. There is not a great deal of difference between these figures and the next two rounds to be fired at Napier and Poporangi Ranges respectively, should have to be very close indeed.

The top scorer of the day was Ivon van Asch (C.R.), who totalled 99. Next came R. Sorensen (Poporangi) and A. Oliver (C.R.), each with 94.
