Newspaper Article – Tony Bone

With the retirement of the Commonwealth Games and national titleholder J. Hill, from the scene, the single sculls championship at the forthcoming New Zealand rowing championships is wide open. Strong claimant for Hill’s mantle is the Hawke’s Bay representative, A (“Tony”) Bone, elder brother of Hawke’s Bay’s rugby representative forward, Dave Bone. He annexed the provincial title at the regatta at Clive last Saturday, and earlier he had won the Wellington provincial title. He is shown here on the Ngaruroro River during last week’s regatta.
