Unbeaten century by Lee Totty

An unbeaten century by Whakatu-Mahora batsman Lee Totty gave his team a draw in their grade 2A match against Old Boys-Hastings on Saturday.

Totty hit 15 fours and two sixes in his 103 not out to lead Whakatu-Mahora to a 240 for 6 at the end of play.

The second day started with Old Boys continuing their first innings from 137 for 5 after overhauling Whakatu-Mahora’s first innings total of 127.

Old Boys declared their innings closed at 212 for 9 with Bill Ormond scoring 65, Mike Patton 43, Laurie Francis 32, and Mark Howard 24.

Bowling for Whakatu-Mahora, skipper Ron Martin took 4 for 59.

Trailing Old Boys by 85 runs on the first innings, Whakatu-Mahora began their second innings with determination and batted the rest of the day to reach 240 for 6.

Opening batsman Roy Dunningham scored 45 and Larry Gibbons 40.

Totty scored 167 runs in the match.

Bonus points from the match – Old Boys: 11 (7 batting, 4 bowling). Whakatu-Mahora: 6 (2 batting, 4 bowling).
