Women’s Institute.

THE WOODVILLE BRANCH.

There was a large attendance at the monthly meeting of the Woodville Women’s Institute, held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday afternoon. In the unavoidable absence of the President, Mrs J. S. Nelson (vice president) took the chair.

One new member was enrolled.

Final arrangements were made for the Christmas party for the member’s children, which takes place on Saturday next at the Foresters’ Hall.

The entertainment was supplied by the Dramatic Circle, who staged a very laughable little play entitled “Domestic Service Problems,” those taking part being Mesdames Arlidge, H.P. Horne and Jaine.

An excellent demonstration on the making of silk lamp shades was given by Mrs W. Cunningham of Papatawa, who showed a collection of dainty handmade novelties suitable for Christmas gifts.

Hearty votes of thanks to the entertainters [entertainers], and the demonstrator were given by acclamation.
