Newspaper Letter 1989 – Clarkson family seek descendants

Clarkson family seek descendants

Mr Editor. –  In January next year my family the Clarksons, like many other pioneer families, will be celebrating 150 years in New Zealand. For some time we have been tracking down descendants – an estimated 4000.

One of the descendants was an Emily Florence West who died on November 25, 1941 in Hastings. She had at least 10 children, and as you can imagine we’d like to locate them.

Relatives are seking [seeking] descendants of Emily Florence West (nee Carson) and James West for a reunion of the Clarkson/Carson family to be held Christchurch in January, 1990. Please write Clarkson James, 75 Gardner Ave, Auckland.

With such a large family, anything is likely Emily was one of 10 children as also was her mother Sarah [Mary Ann].
