IMPORTANT
1. This passport remains the property of the Government of New Zealand. In no circumstances, should any alteration or addition be made to this passport except by a competent authority.
2. This passport is a valuable document and should be safeguarded with the utmost care. If it is lost or destroyed, the circumstances should be reported immediately to the nearest representative of New Zealand or the nearest British authority in foreign countries and to the local Police. New passports can be issued in such cases only after exhaustive inquiries.
3. New Zealand passports may be renewed after the date of expiry for a further period of five years. Ten years from the original date of issue, all New Zealand Passports finally expire. Application for renewal should be made to the Secretary for Internal Affairs, Wellington, or to the nearest New Zealand High Commissioner’s Office, Embassy, Legation, or Consulate. Where there is no New Zealand representative, application may be made to a British authority in foreign countries.
4. The possession of a New Zealand passport does not exempt the holder from compliance with any immigration regulations in force in British or foreign countries nor from obtaining visas where necessary.
5. New Zealand citizens residing abroad are advised to have their names recorded with the nearest New Zealand High Commissioner’s Office, Embassy, Legation, or Consulate or with the nearest British authority in foreign countries where New Zealand is not represented.
