Born Waipawa, 14th September 1937, Son of Carl Marius Petersen and Laila Bessie (nee Eddy); married Diana Mary Syme, daughter of David Atkin Syme, 1962; two sons, one daughter.
Educated: Waipukurau Primary School; Wellington College. Official Young Farmers’ Club Exchange to UK, 1960: Dom Councillor YFC, 1962-65; Chairman, Meat and Wool Executive, Hawke’s Bay Federated Farmers, 1984; Senior Vice Chairman, Meat and Wool Council, Federated Farmers NZ, 1984-87; Chairman, Dom Meat and Wool Council 1987-90; Director, Farm Lands Trading Society Ltd, 1984-; Vice Chairman 1988, Chairman, 1989; Current Board Member: Animal Remedies Board, National Health Board, Animal Health Board, Animal Welfare Advisory Committee; NZ Meat Industry Research Trust, NZ Wool Industry Trust. President, Central Hawke’s Bay Kindergarten Association 1968-73, Patron 1973-.
Recreations: rugby, golf, trout fishing, sea boating, fishing.
