Poem About Rugby 1968

A pair of horse’s wings
A mooloo tail that swings
Hawkeye has many things
Among his souvenirs

A set of antlers new
A mutton bird or two
Some All Black jerseys too
Among his souvenirs

He has Otago’s crest
There in his treasure chest
Though Fergie did his best
He’s part of Bay’s collection

Then Hawkeye made it plain
When he clipped Leo’s mane
He’d make the shield remain

This season’s added loot
Includes an East Coast boot
A bushland tui cute
‘Mong Hawkeye’s souvenirs

A weka’s feather fin
A bleeny beaver skin
A Counties rugby pin
Among his souvenirs

Our Hawkeye put a stop
To fierce old hoary BOP
Now he is on the top
Of Hawkeye’s fine collection
