Dear Mrs Floyd,

I have taken up my pen, not to write at length, but to let you know I am still alive but nearly frost bitten. It has been very cold her[e] lately and the fire is the best place. I have been noticing the violets plentiful here but what are yours like. If you have any to spare, I would like a few for my little girl.

She is a decent [?], very pretty and fascinating eh what? Mother does not know anything about it.

How are you keeping. I hope you are feeling better

I am keeping fine at present, although my time is occupied with studying. How is Mrs Wall and Lucas. Good bye for the present from

Your Sincere Friend Merve.
