PRODUCTION FOR 1952

The “Tomoana Players” were inaugurated in 1943 with the object of raising funds for charitable causes. In that year they presented that popular play “The Bishop’s Candlesticks.” The following year they made a tremendous hit with that evergreen and popular farce “Charley’s Aunt,” since when they have earned for themselves a well-deserved popularity by their selection of good, clean plays and good acting, and for their beneficiaries a sum exceeding £2050.

From time to time, members of the Tomoana Players have received numerous requests from the public to restage “Charley’s Aunt.” As next year will be the tenth performance since the Players came into being it has been decided to again stage this hilarious comedy as our Anniversary Performance. Only four of the original cast remain at Tomoana and it is hoped that these, namely Messrs. R. J. Thomas as Lord Fancourt Babberley, M. L. Moloney as Spettigue, Chas. Heald as Sir Francis Chesney, will take their original roles, while Jack Charles will take the part of Brassett, previously played by Jim Allen.

It is worthy of note that Mr. Charles Bryant, Conductor of the Orphans’ Orchestra, and several members of that orchestra have been with the Players since their first performance and should we have their services again in 1952, they also will join with the Players in celebrating this anniversary.
