Programme 1964 – The One Day Of The Year

NAPIER REPERTORY PLAYERS

THE
ONE DAY
OF
THE
YEAR

by ALAN SEYMOUR

This richly human addition to the new naturalistic drama that has sprung up in Australia during the last half-dozen years made considerable impact on critics and audiences alike when it was produced in Sydney and Melbourne by Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust, and in London by the trust in conjunction with the Fifty-nine Theatre Company and Laurie Lister.

Throughout this play, Alan Seymour has fused private and public issues in a way that illuminates the attitudes of two generations of Australians.
