Welcome from the President

A special welcome to our Company’s 81st Annual Production. I sincerely hope you enjoy our show, and will be able to sit back for two-and-a-half hours of total enjoyment.

The Frivs last year raised $1700 for country district schools, and we hope to increase that figure this year.

I would like to thank all members of the Frivs, and to you, our audience, thank you for your continued support. Finally an invitation: If anybody would like to join the Frivs, contact myself or the Secretary – we would be pleased to hear from you.

This is Fay’s second year as Secretary, which is a very busy and important part of our production. Since joining in 1958 as a chorus girl, Fay has worked as programme seller, prompt, make-up supervisor, wardrobe mistress and committee member.

The Frivs would like to thank Fay for her efforts with this year’s production, Fay is also prompt, and in charge of make-up for the entire show.

Looking back over the years since the Frivs began (1897) it gives me great pleasure to think I have been a member since 1918 and have been associated with many men and women who have brought entertainment to Hawke’s Bay, and to many villages, towns and cities throughout NZ.

I trust the present members and those that follow will carry on the good work and receive the same pleasure as I have.

Edith has been musical director for the Frivs for four years.

Her previous experience in association with the Napier Qrpheus Choir and her own choral group, brings a high standard to the Frivs’ performance tonight.

Edith is a registered music teacher, teaching piano and theory of music. She was also on stage with the Frivs for three years.

Producer-Choreographer Minstrel Show

Having been on stage for many years as a dancer, Julie has the knowledge and technique to enable her to get the best from the Frivs.

All choreography for both chorus and dancers for the entire production has been arranged by Julie. Now an adjudicator for the NZ. Competitions Association, she also has her own tap and modern jazz dance school.

Now in her second year as producer for the Frivs, Marie Hall has once again brought to the stage a sparkling musical comedy. Written by J. S, Henney “Billy The Kid Returns” is set as a Western, and Marie hopes you will enjoy this evening’s musical.

Previously Marie has produced shows for Mothers’ Clubs and similar organisations.
