Acknowledgments

In this our tenth year the Festival continues to be the culminating highlight of many of our Schools’ Maori programmes, and the event in which many of our parents participate, whether as spectators, supporters or tutors. The continued interest is also revealed in the composition of the Committee, which still has foundation members involved and that at least fifty per cent of participating schools have entered a group each year from the very beginning. Congratulations on this sustained interest and effort to all people and schools concerned. Ka ko ate ngakau i enei mahi.

Maori Language Week this year will be July 30th – August 5th inclusive. Perhaps this year some schools could extend their Festival activities by providing a Maori Programme during this period for groups of people or organisations who do not normally have the opportunity to view things Maori, e.g. –

Rotary, Lions, Old Folks Associations, Hospitals, to name but a few.

When it is seen that Maoritanga can work and is needed perhaps then we can live as one people. Tena Koutou, tena koutou, tena tatou katoa.
