NOEL COWARD’S
MASTERPIECE

PRIVATE LIVES

DIRECTOR: SYLVIA RICHARDSON

NEXT PRODUCTION

Napier Repertory is proud to announce the New Zealand Amateur Premiere of

FRANK McGUINESS’
STUNNING MASTERPIECE

SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME

Directed by Chris Davidson
Starring
Dave Pipe, Stu Webster and Jonathon Krebs

On stage in early May

“There was an Englishman, an Irishman and an American all chained up to a wall in a prison in the Middle East …”

Sylvia Richardson – directed Act 1 of Private Lives for the 1992 Art Deco season and is delighted to be asked to direct, with the superb assistance of Mary Fisher, the complete Coward play for 1997.
Sylvia knows this talented cast will transport the audience into the feverish era of the Art Deco period with honesty and truth.

Robyn O’Hagan – has been involved in a variety of musicals with Napier Operatic, Frivs and a variety of Wellington companies. The Art Deco era has a style of its own and one that has poise and grace but lots of fun. “The role of Amanda gives me a chance to explore the many facets of the Art Deco woman.”

Warren Young – Private Lives is Warren’s first outing with Rep. He appeared last year as a romantic Irish writer in Love Off The Shelf and as Pharaoh in Joseph in 1992. “Elyot typifies the style and elegance the era is famous for and he is an indulgent role to play.”

Jane Sutherland – was last seen on stage in Love off the Shelf and at Rep. in Outside Edge. Jane is delighted to be involved once again as dear Sybil and is looking forward to perfecting “the Wail”.

Brent Fairlie – “Private Lives” is Brent’s third production since arriving in the Bay last May. Despite Victor’s being pompous, brash, blustery and weak, … “I am not typecast.” Victor deserves sympathy for he is only trying to do the correct thing. “A gentleman of the period indeed.”

Amanda Jackson – enjoyed polishing up her French accent for the part of the maid and enjoys generally falling about the place. She was last seen as various women in Love off the Shelf and before that as Joan, the luckless wife in Objection Over-ruled.
