RD 9 Historical Trust at Stoneycroft 2012

Hawke’s Bay Knowledge Bank

Welcomes members of the

RD 9 Historical Trust

to Stoneycroft

6 November 2012

A trip down memory lane –

In the beginning, someone had an idea….

Book cover –

THE
ROAD TO THE WEST
A history of the districts between the Ngaruroro and Tutaekuri Rivers
by
NOLA McAULAY

He talked about it to others, and a project was born….

The perfect way to record the history of the RD 9 area was to write a book

People with historical ties to the area were contacted, and also others who were interested in the district’s history

And so, the RD 9 Historical Trust was born

The RD9 Historical Trust

Two years of painstaking, meticulous research followed. Members wrote, re-wrote, refined and re-wrote their chapters again until finally, the result was…

It’s time for a get-together…

Sadly, we have farewelled several members over the years – we remember them with respect

The Trust made a generous donation to the Hawke’s Bay Digital Archives Trust from the sale of “West to the Annie” in 2010

This donation has enabled the digital archives project to start in earnest and has been the catalyst for many more donations since then

A Long-term Vision for Hawke’s Bay
Hastings District Council soon will make Stoneycroft available to proponents of a digital archive.
Now begins the long-overdue task of creating an accessible record of the region’s treasures. This must happen before more valuable Hawke’s Bay history is lost.

Sincere thanks to the RD 9 Historical Trust
