Assistant and later Head of English Department and first assistant Dannevirke High School 1936-55; inspector of Secondary Schools 1956-61; senior  inspector of Secondary Schools 1962-65; officer for Teacher Training 1966; superintendent of Curriculum Development 1966-; cricket and rugby administration, Southern Hawke’s Bay
War service: NZ Army 1942-44, captain
Recreation: literature, music, swimming, gardening
