Senior Lecturer in Sociology Massey University, president Federation of NZ Social Science Organisations; former president NZ Sociological Association, executive/founding member NZ Ethnic Relations Study Group.
Author/co-author/editor of ten books including Racism and Ethnicity (Auckland: Oxford University Press, 1988).
National councillor Barnardos NZ.
Awarded 1990 Commemorative Medal.
Leisure activities include reading, soccer, Clydesdale horses.
