Born Napier, 6 December 1918, son of Richard Tacon and Margaret (nee Arnott); married (1) Clare Keating, daughter of Claire and Tom Keating 1950 (d 1955); (2) Bernardine Leamy, daughter of Hazel and Cecil Leamy, 1960; four sons, two daughters
Educated: St Patrick’s College, Silverstream, 1931-36; MBIM 1966.
Joined RAF 1939; served in Coastal Command Second World War, POW 1944-45; CO of King’s Flight, 1946-51
Overseas service: Canal Zone 1951-53, Cyprus 1956-58, Persian Gulf 1961-63; Commandant, Central Fighter Est, 1963-65; Air Commodore, Tactics, Fighter Command 1966-67; AOC, Military Air Traffic Operations, 1968-71 (retired).
