Born Lower Hutt, 11 October 1938, son of Alexander Ivan Taylor and Rosa Dorothea (nee Went); married Delia Anne Wellington, 1965 (dissolved 1977); two sons.
Educated Levin Primary School; variety of secondary schools; Christchurch Teachers’ College; Choysa Bursary for Children’s Writers 1984.
Teacher 1960-84; Principal, Ohakune School, 1978-84; full-time writer, 1984-.
Mayor, Ohakune Borough, 1981-88.
