This Is Your Banking Life 1988

THIS IS
YOUR BANKING
LIFE

Ewing (Robbie) Robertson

Ewing (Robbie) Robertson has spent all his working life in banking.

The first 18 years was with the Bank of New Zealand where he progressed through to Branch Accountant and Relieving Branch Manager.

In October 1964 Ewing made the first and only change in his career. He joined the Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne Savings Bank as Branch Manager. This was followed by Personnel Manager, Advertising Public Relations Manager and in 1971 was appointed General Manager.

When the Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne and Manawatu – Wairarapa Savings Banks merged in 1972 to create the Eastern and Central Savings Bank Ewing became the new banks General Manager.

During his 17 years as General Manager of the local Trustee Bank Ewing served on numerous committees of The Associated Trustee Banks.

His last year with the bank has without doubt been the most significant period in the banks history. Trust Bank Eastern and Central and Trust Bank Wanganui merged to become Trust Bank Central and he was to be Chief Executive of the second largest bank in the Trust Bank Group. His final contribution to the development and growth of the bank has been the planning and strategy for expanding the Trust Bank Central operations into the Taranaki Region with the opening of the first branch in October 1988.

Trust Bank Central will prosper because of his leadership and entrepreneurial approach at a time when New Zealand’s banking underwent dramatic and technological changes.
