Retired Police Officer.
Born Waipawa 3 August 1928. Married 1951 Sheila Kathleen Godfrey; five children – Janice, Graeme, Alison, Jennifer, Andrew.
Educated Dannevirke District High School; Commonwealth Police College, Australia; Bramshill Police College, UK.
Retired 1985 as Deputy Assistant Commissioner, district commander Christchurch Police District; previously served in Wellington, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Timaru, Greymouth.
Publications include The Wahine Disaster: The Police Role (1969).
Canterbury regional councillor, member numerous organistions [organisations] including Nurse Maude District Nursing Association, Court of Directors Royal Humane Society NZ, Christchurch Metropolitan chairman J.R. McKenzie Trust.
Awarded OBE 1980.
Leisure activities include making period furniture, bowling.
Address 60 Parkstone Avenue, Avonhead, Christchurch.
