President NZ Mathematical Society 1979-80, deputy chairman Federation of Scientific and Techno logical Societies 1990-91.
Elected Fellow of Institute for Mathematics and its Applications 1977.
Churchwarden St Matthew’s Anglican Church, Wellington 1969-78.
Leisure activities include tennis, bridge.
