WILLIAM WILLIAMS, 1800-1878

the sons of
Thomas Williams, 1754-1808 and Mary Marsh, 1757-1831, who were married in 1783.

Two of their eight children came to New Zealand.

HENRY arrived on August 6^th, 1823, and established the Mission Station at Paihia in the Bay of Islands.

WILLIAM joined him on March 26^th, 1826, and later became First Bishop of Waiapu, 1859.

This RECORD is substantially the work of Michael G.M. Williams (E – 7.b) late of Pakaraka, Wairoa, H.B., between 1962 and 1968. He wrote, “I have tried to make a full and correct record of the first four generations from both Henry and William Williams, and as much later information as possible. This work was compiled in 1965, but a few additions have been made since then.” Inevitably, as we come to the fifth and sixth generations it becomes more difficult to avoid gaps. We hope that those who are interested will be able to supply omissions themselves.
