Kenneth (Ken) Walter Kiddle Funeral Service Photo Montage

Vivien Osborne’s tribute to her father –

My tribute to my Dad is a slideshow

The first slide is very charming. It shows Dad as a little boy sitting between his brothers Reg and Geoff. His hair is amazing.

The main themes throughout are family and orcharding underlying themes happiness, love and the joy of life.

A beaming boy next to some bottles of flowers. Dad won a prize for his chrysanthemums in the Lower Hutt flower show.

The car. The story goes that one day he was driving along with his arm around mum and got picked up by a traffic cop. He was told to keep his hands on the wheel.

Leaping high in the air at Waimarama beach shows his energy and love of life.

You might wonder what the significance of the frogs is; they sat outside the bedroom window of the granny flat and each morning when dad got up he would look out at them and say “good morning little frogs!” Earlier version; Rise and shine, rise and shine.

He had lots of cheery little quirks. If you asked him what the weather was going to be like tomorrow the answer would always be the same. Fine. I was a young adult when I finally realized dad was not reliable about the weather.

interesting orcharding photos, showing old equipment and methods, like the practice of fighting frosts with frost pots. The orchardists would painstakingly light these to protect their precious crops. red glow and the smog the next day.

Other photos show dad enjoying the company of family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. There are photos of different celebrations, like mums and dads diamond wedding, family drinks which is a monthly fixture and Christmas at the beach house, including one taken this Christmas just 3 weeks before he died.

When she saw the slideshow Mum said that people would think all we ever did was drink wine

Dad was respected by everyone whose life he touched, and was loved by many. In the words of a friend, NZ and in fact the world, is a better place for having had him.

Key chain.

Dad, you were an exceptional man and you had a great life.

We wanted you to stay with us a bit longer, but you have left us a wonderful legacy of memories, values and the bits and pieces of you we see in your children and grandchildren.
