THURSDAY, 4th SEPTEMBER

Official Opening of Greater Hastings 1958 Blossom Festival Festivities.
Our 1958 Hastings Blossom Festival Queen is chosen and crowned at the Municipal Theatre, 8 p.m.
Window Spotting Programmes on sale in City. Look for the yellow and black card!
The start of ten days of Fun and Frolics in Funfare Alley.
Blossom Buttonholes on sale in City.
Erection of first Street Decorations.
Open-air Skating, Windsor Park Skating Rink.
State Theatre: “Tarzan and the She Devil” and “Tarzan’s Savage Fury,” 7.45 p.m.
Regent Theatre: “Once Upon a Horse,” 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Embassy Theatre: “Living It Up” and “The Birds and the Bees,” 1.45 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.

Make sure you see the outstanding “Floral Exhibition” and the National Daffodil Show sponsored by the Hastings Horticultural Society, in the N.Z. Apple and Pear Board’s Cool Store, King Street N. Open 9 a.m. – 9.30 p.m. Don’t miss this magnificent display.
Day and night efforts will be made to put the finishing touches to floats for to-morrow.
You can still win a prize – your last chance to buy a Window Spotting Programme.
Make sure you are wearing a Blossom Buttonhole – everyone will be wearing one.
You must bring the whole family – the young and not-so-young – to the City to-night to see the Decorated Shops.

SATURDAY, 13th SEPTEMBER

7.33 a.m. – First Special Blossom Festival Procession Excursion Train from Wellington arrives in Hastings.
7.55 a.m. – Second Special Blossom Festival Procession Excursion Train from Wellington arrives in Hastings.
8.00 a.m. – Hastings Horticultural Society’s “Floral Exhibition,” Apple and Pear Board’s New Cool Store, King St. N. Open till 10 p.m.
8.00 a.m. – Arrival of first car to finish in 1958 Blossom Festival Car Rally, Russell Street Extension.
8.18 a.m. – Third Special Blossom Festival Procession Excursion Train from Wellington arrives in Hastings.
8.35 a.m. – Special Blossom Festival Procession Excursion Train from Gisborne arrives in Hastings.
8.45 a.m. – Breakfast, to be followed by inspection of Decorated Shops, Streets, etc., and a visit to Funfare Alley.
9.30 a.m. – Newman Bros.’ Coaches arrive from Wellington.

9.30 a.m. – Blossom Procession Floats, etc., assemble at Queen’s Square. Marshalling to be completed by 10 a.m. Judging to be completed by 10.45 a.m.
10.00 a.m. – Children’s Procession moves off from corner of Heretaunga Street and King Street. (Assemble 9.30 a.m.)
11.00 a.m. – 1958 Hastings Blossom Festival Procession moves off from Willowpark Road, via Heretaunga Street to Tomoana Road, then via St. Aubyn Street, Grays Road, Heretaunga Street, Selwood Road, to Windsor Park.
11.30 a.m. – Displays by members of Hastings Model Aero Club, at Windsor Park.
12.00 noon – Display by Richmondvale Archery Club, at Windsor Park.
12.30 p.m. – (Approx.) Blossom Festival Procession arrives at Blossom Carnival, Windsor Park.
1.30 p.m. – Presentation of Cups to winning Floats by His Worship the Mayor, Mr. W. E. Bate.
1.30 p.m. – Presentation of our 1958 Blossom Festival Queen.
1.45 p.m. – Massed March by Combined Highland Pipe Bands.
2.00 p.m. – Combined Brass Bands’ March.
2.00 p.m. – Sightseeing Buses leave N.Z. Road Services Terminal, Karamu Road, and Windsor Park Gates at 2.5 p.m. Forty-mile tour, covering Havelock North, Clive, Napier, Port Ahuriri, Greenmeadows, Taradale, Pakowhai, and back to Hastings.
2.15 p.m. – Display by Whanganui Drum Majorettes.
2.30 p.m. – Display by City of Hastings Scots Highland Pipe Band.
2.45 p.m. – Display by Aramoho Junior Marching Team.
3.00 p.m. – Hastings Citizens’ Band.
3.00 p.m. – (Approx.) Finish of Annual Napier-Hastings Harrier Road Race, at Hastings Post Office.
3.00 p.m. – H.B. Maoris v. Wellington Maoris, Nelson Park.
3.15 p.m. – Maze March by Combined Marching Teams.
3.30 p.m. – Display by Hawke’s Bay Scottish Pipe Band.
3.45 p.m. – Marching Display by Barclay Motors, Senior and Junior Marching Teams.
4.00 p.m. – Displays by Palmerston North Junior Pipe Band.
4.15 p.m. – Massed Flying Display by members of Hastings Model Aero Club.
