Personal Statement

From an early career as a nurse to one of total commitment to clay has been an eventful and exciting journey, yet to be dulled by the expectations and experiences of life and work. Largely self-taught, I have been self-supporting through 16 years of child-raising. This has necessitated the development of a structural disciplined approach to domestic stoneware pottery.

The use of teapots as a sculptural medium has become a focus over the last six years – layers of glaze on glaze building up into organic textures, enhancing the subtle use of teapots as a sculptural extension of my domestic work.

Exhibit 20, Set of two teapots $107
