WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION:

HYMN:

MORNING HAS BROKEN

MORNING has broken like the first morning,
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,
Praise for them springing fresh from the world.

SWEET the rain’s new fall, sunlit from heaven,
Like the first dewfall on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass.

MINE is the sunlight, mine is the morning,
Born of the one light eden saw play.
Praise with elation, praise ev’ry morning,
God’s recreation of the new day.

THE LOVE OF GOD:
Words of Jesus Christ our Saviour

OPENING PRAYERS:

God our Father,
you are a refuge and strength for us,
a helper close at hand in times of distress.
Help us so to hear the words of our faith
that our fears are dispelled, our loneliness eased,
and our hope reawakened.
May your Holy Spirit lift us above our natural sorrow,
to the peace and light of your constant love; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen

THE LORD’S PRAYER:
Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,
In earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil; For thine is the kingdom,
The power and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen

PSALM 121:

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills,
from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is thy keeper: The Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil:
He shall preserve thy soul.
The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be: World Without End.
Amen

HYMN:

PRAISE MY SOUL

Praise my soul, the King of heaven,
To his feet thy tribute bring;
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
Who like me his praise should sing?
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Praise the everlasting King.

Praise him for his grace and favour
To our father in distress;
Praise him still the same as ever,
Slow to chide, and swift to bless:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Glorious in his faithfulness.

Father-like, he tends and spares us,
Well our feeble frame he knows;
In his hands he gently bears us,
Rescues us from all our foes;
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Widely as his mercy flows.

Angels, help us to adore him;
Ye behold him face to face;
Sun and moon, bow down before him,
Dwellers all in time and space:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Praise with us the God of grace.

ADDRESS:

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION AND CONSOLATION:

Amen

BLESSING:

HYMN:

WHO WOULD TRUE VALOUR SEE

WHO would true valour see,
Let him come hither;
One here will constant be.
Come wind, come weather;
There’s no discouragement
Shall make him once relent
His first avowed intent
To be a pilgrim.

WHOSO beset him round
With dismal stories,
Do but themselves confound;
His strength the more is.
No lion can him fright;
He’ll with a giant fight,
But he will have the right
To be a pilgrim.

NO goblin nor foul fiend
can daunt his spirit;
He knows he at the end
Shall life inherit.
Then, fancies, fly away;
He’ll not fear what men say;
He’ll labour night and day
To be a pilgrim.
