To all participants 10 Hawkes Bay Potters Exhibition
Dear Bruce & Estelle
Just an update on arrangements – and a reminder that Nigel King will take your photographs on Saturday/Sunday 7/8 September. He will ring you to make a suitable time.
The exhibition will now be touring to Manawatu Art Gallery, Palmerston North, and then on to Wairarapa Arts Centre, Masterton in February. Both are very keen to show the pots, and to try to sell them.
The video will be filmed in late September. I will confirm dates when Eric returns to Hawkes Bay. As we will be hiring camera and operator, we must be prepared. Could you think about how you would like to be filmed – what you will be doing – and what you will say about it. Also I will need some information to prepare a short introduction to each person for recording – a sort of C V would help – as we will also need this for the catalogue.
The intro could be something like this -“Bill Smith has been making pots for about 10 years – he joined Hastings Pottery group in 1980, and has participated in many workshops since then. His earlier works were mainly domestic wares, but recently he has moved to producing large vases and garden pots. An innovative potter, he is continually experimenting with glazes. He has gained several awards and his patio pots decorate many gardens all over N Z. Bill now works full time from his studio in Clive.”
All this is pure fairy tale, but may give you an idea of what could be said – I am open to suggestions, and would love it if you all could contact me with something we could discuss, and then I can work out my production instructions.
