His Worship The Mayor,
KUROISHI.

My Dear Mayor,

Again I send my warmest greetings from myself and the City of Hastings.

This letter comes to you by the hands of Bruce and Estelle Martin of Kamaka Pottery, who are recognised by the City of Hastings as excellent potters.

I would like to tell you that the City of Hastings purchased pottery made by Bruce and Estelle Martin for presentation by the City of Hastings to Sir Dennis [Denis] Blundell, the previous Governor-General of New Zealand, and recently to Sir Keith Holyoake, the present Governor-General of New Zealand, on their recent official visits to our City.

Mr and Mrs Martin have told me that they are visiting your area of Japan to meet and learn more of the art of pottery from some of your famous potters.

I know that Mr & Mrs Martin will enjoy their visit to your Region and I respectfully ask you to assist them in their efforts to learn more about the Japanese art of pottery.

With the warmest personal regards,

Yours very sincerely,
JJ O’Connor
J.J. O’CONNOR
MAYOR.
