re: THE JAMES WHITE EXHIBITION GALLERY

Shortly we will be opening an Exhibition Gallery in Napier where we will promote works of art from local and further afield artists/craftspersons.

James White Photography has, over it’s 20 years in business in Napier, worked hard to establish the reputation for the highest quality of photography and service, combined with a reputation for creativity and style.  Few would deny that these ambitions have been well met.

In accordance with these same standards we intend to offer our Gallery as a venue to promote, exhibit and sell works of quality and expertise.

As crafts people of note in Hawke’s Bay, we would like to offer you the opportunity to exhibit your work in our Gallery.  At this stage we are asking those whom we approach to indicate their willingness to hold an exhibition, either individually or jointly, and to specify a time most suitable.

Once we have your replies in we will then send out out [our] Conditions of Exhibition and a calendar of exhibition dates, followed by a personal visit to discuss details of each exhibition.  We also intend to supplement each exhibitor’s display with a working portrait taken on location by James. This would preferably have included in the portrait, one of the pieces to be displayed in the exhibition.

We know from the numerous inquiries made by us, that there is a need for such a Gallery in Napier and we are excited at the prospect of being able to play a major role in the development of the craft scene in Hawke’s Bay.

Invitation to Exhibit at the James White Exhibition Gallery

Thank you for asking us to join in with an exhibition of our Anagama pottery in your new Gallery. We would be very pleased to stage an exhibition at your venue especially as it is going to be of such a high class.

The time most suitable to us would be mid-year 1989. Our busy time is from October until June with the making and firing which makes it pretty impossible to do much other than work over that time.

We would also be interested to have several pots, on the continuous sale basis. We have found that repeated exposure of the pots helps to develop the awareness to the subtlety of Anagama.

Your Gallery will be a most welcome addition with its emphasis on quality. Thank you again.
