A “LINEN” TEA

FOR MISS J. NELSON.

On Friday last Miss Joceline Nelson, who is soon to be married, was the guest of honour at a very pleasant little “linen” tea given for her by Miss Betty Brathwaite Havelock North.

Placed about the drawing-room were pretty bowls of mauve winter iris, and there a delicious tea was dispensed by Mrs Brathwaite while the gifts for the bride-to-be were unwrapped. Many useful presents – tea towels, tray cloths, d’oyleys [doilies] etc. – were received, for which Miss Nelson thanked her friends.

A book-title competition was most interesting, and this was won by Miss D. Scott.

Miss Joceline Nelson wore a pretty frock of wine printed crepe de chine with a black hat, and Miss Betty Brathwaite was in an attractive black jumper suit. Others included Mrs J. Ewart, Misses Joan Campbell, D. Scott, Cecily Bell, Mary Rainbow, R. Cotterill and Betty Menzies.
