Newspaper Article 1939 – Nelson-Smith Wedding

INTERESTING WEDDING IN HAVELOCK NORTH: A reception in the beautiful grounds of “Waikoko,” former home of the bridegroom’s grandfather, the late Mr. William Nelson, and now the property of the Hawke’s Bay A. and P. Society, followed the wedding of Cynthia, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Smith, Ohariu, Wellington, to Hugh, son of Mrs. and the late Mr. Lionel Nelson of Wellington. The newly-weds’ home will be at Lowry Bay, Wellington. (1)   The bridal pair photographed in the afternoon sunshine with their retinue: Misses Mary and Ruth Smith, Kathleen Nelson, Messrs. John Dill (best man), Guy Nelson and Dudley Chambers (cousin of the groom). (2) Parental entente: (from left) Mrs. Mason Chambers (bridegroom’s maternal grandmother), Mrs. E.H.
