WEDDING

THOMSON – NELSON.

Flowers from the Easter services made a lovely setting at St. Mary‘s Church, Karori, yesterday evening, for the wedding of Kathleen Margaret, second daughter of Mrs. Lionel Nelson, Karori, and the late Mr. Nelson, and Charles Herbert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomson, Gold Coast, West Africa. The Rev. Kinross Nicholson, of Wanganui, performed the ceremony, assisted by the Rev. F. M. Kempthorne.

Pure white self-embossed chiffon over an underskirt of palest blue formed the bridal gown, and the bride wore her mother’s beautiful wedding veil of fine net edged with lace, and carried a bouquet of Easter lilies. Mr. Hugh Nelson gave his sister away. The bridesmaid, Miss Nan Maling, of Christchurch, wore a slim-fitting frock of midnight blue satin-backed crepe, the fine fillet of pearls in her hair matching those at her throat. The bride’s little cousin, Mary Swinburne, of Waipukurau, wore an ankle-length frock of white tulle over blue satin.

Dr. Thomson was attended by his brother, Mr. W. G. Thomson, of Wellington, as best man.

Mrs. Nelson entertained afterwards at her home, 51 Messines Road, Karori, and received the guests with her elder son and Mrs. W. G. Thomson. Hydrangeas were beautifully arranged about the large drawing-room, which was warmed by a big fire, and carnations were used to decorate the bridal table.

Dr. and Mrs. C. H. Thomson will live in Christchurch, where the bride-groom is attached to the medical staff of the Public Hospital.
