Newspaper Article 1962 – Obituary – Dorothy Grahame

Dorothy Graham [Grahame]

Many people in Hastings will greatly miss Mrs Dorothy Graham, of 308 Gascoigne Street, who died on March 13.

Mrs Graham was a very active and faithful member of St Matthews Church where she and her late husband, Mr Bruce Graham, taught for many years in the Sunday School. After her husband’s death Mrs Graham continued to teach for some years.

Mrs Graham was a foundation member of the British Women’s Overseas Club (now in its 16th year) where she held office as secretary and treasurer for some years. She was also a keen member of the Hastings Townswomen’s Guild and onetime leader of the Arts and Crafts circle.

Mrs Graham’s life was full of interests. Not the least of these was her garden which she loved.

Born in Guernsey in the Channel Islands, she came to New Zealand many years ago and quickly made friends wherever she lived.

She had a very happy, humorous personality, full of kindness and consideration for others. She will be greatly missed by her many friends in Hastings and other parts of the North Island.
