HB potters well represented

Tim Curey [Currey] is this year’s $10,000 winner of the Fletcher Challenge ceramics award, announced in Auckland last night. The 38-year-old from Port Charles beat 452 other entrants with his work called Rock Column. Chloe King, Ocean Beach, Hawke’s Bay, was the only other New Zealander named among the nine merit award winners from Japan, Britain and America. Hawke’s Bay was well represented at the exhibition with works by Ann Veracourt [Verdcourt], Dannevirke, Estelle and Bruce Martin, Hastings, and Gaeleen Morley, Taradale, included in the 150 exhibits at the Auckland Museum.
