School celebrates

About 200 past and present pupils, including a foundation pupil now living in Feilding, attended 75th jubilee celebrations of Sherenden School during the weekend.

The gathering at the two-teacher school, beside the Napier-Taihape road, included a gathering at the school and displays, a dinner-dance on Saturday night and a Sunday church service.

Speakers at the functions included Waikaremoana MP Roger McClay, Hastings District mayor Jeremy Dwyer and council ward member Ralph Beamish, as well as Jan Graham, a member of the former Hawke’s Bay Education Board.
