Music to ears of all ages

Kate Holden, Hastings, left, and Lisa Webber with her baby Sarah, four months, entertain 104-year old Harriet Lean, pictured nursing baby Jack Holden, at the Everlsey Rest Home, Hastings. Mrs Holden has established a music group for mothers and babies. The 15 group members visit her home twice weekly to learn how to interact musically with the babies. Mrs Holden was a music advisor for Hawke’s Bay primary schools and she now plays in the Hawke’s Bay regional orchestra and with a trio of string musicians. The visit to Eversley Home was the first time they have taken the music group programme outside their base and proved a great success with the Eversley residents, some of whom had never held a baby for many years.
