Newspaper Article 2011 – Going strong at 95

GIRLS’ DAY: Rona McCarthy (nee Tong), in the HB Sportsperson Hall of Fame, at her 95th birthday. Ron [Ron] (centre on sofa) is a testament to living long because of a good clean life. She still lives on her own, and cares and cooks for herself. A group of friends and netballers congregated for her 95th birthday on August 22. Front, from left: Karin Campbell (Rona’s daughter), Val an [and] Joy Low (friends). Back: Molly (friend), Katie Portas, Liz Donnelly, Marie Ewens and Yvonne Atkins (all ex-netballers). Rona keeps good health and only wears glasses when doing her fine needlework. Picture sent by Marie Ewens, Napier.
