Artistic flair exhibited at Waipukurau gallery

HILARY PEDERSEN

Bruce and Estelle Martin’s unique wood-fired pots, along with paintings by Bari Duncan, Patricia Davidson and Miriam Lugt feature at Waipukurau’s Electra Gallery until July 3.

The Martins fire their pots in a modern anagama kiln in the traditional manner.

They have exhibited widely throughout New Zealand and are award winners in the Fletcher Challenge and Suter Art Awards, as well as the Norsewear Art Award.

Experienced artist Patricia Davidson, who was also a protégé of sculptor Edgar Mansfield, has exhibited in the Academy of Fine Arts Wellington and, along with Bari Duncan, has been accepted for the Norsewear Art Awards.

Bari Duncan, whose commissioned work appears in England, Sweden, Mexico and Australia, is also exhibiting concurrently at the Greenmeadows Rotary Club’s annual art exhibition.

Dutch born Miriam Lugt moved to Hawke’s Bay in 1986 and won the 1990 Telecom Art Award.
