Between Ourselves

At the conclusion of the “ROOKERY NOOK” tour the Waipukurau Dramatic Society passes its half century of major performances. It might well ask itself “What next?” A review of past productions reveals that the accent has been on entertainment rather than “meaty” plays, but at this stage the Society might explain to you, its supporters, that the day is not too far distant when it might afford (important word, that) to give you the better type play. Whether we like it or not, the Box Office complex clings to Amateur Societies until they enter their “own homes.” And this is just where we are fortunately heading. A grant of land for the “WAIPUKURAU LITTLE THEATRE” has already been assured and past and present production profits are steadily put aside for the purpose of erecting a home where the best of plays, in the best of settings may be presented to the Drama enthusiasts of the district. In the meantime please bear with us whilst we give you those “laughs of a lifetime” on our way to the fulfilment of an ambition which is not ours alone, but the desire of all energetic Amateur Groups in the country. We hope you will enjoy to-night’s tomfoolery with Ben Travers and “ROOKERY NOOK.”
