Welcome to the “Frivs”

– Foreword by the President

It is my pleasure once again to welcome you to our show. This is my third year as President and eleventh as a performer with the Frivs. It is good to see many of our former Frivs back in the show, a well as some new faces appearing on stage.

The Frivs over the years have donated nearly $300,000 to charity, a record we are justly proud of, and this year appeared on Telethon, which in turn was helping to raise funds for another worthy cause.

I thank you, our audience, for your continued support, and to all members of the Frivs, thank you for your fine efforts with this, our 82nd production.

The major part of our production is once again in the capable hands of Fay, our Secretary. Fay has been in nearly every part of the Frivs show, and this year is on stage, in charge of make-up, and prompt for the Pantomime.

Having been involved with the Frivs over a period of 21 years, Fay certainly has the knowledge for the important role she plays, and the Frivs would like to thank Fay for all her help in this section of the Frivs activity.

Our Production Team

PRODUCER
Marie Hall
This year Marie has produced the entire show, and I’m sure you will agree this has been a very fine effort. The Frivs would like to thank Marie for all the hard hours of work which have gone into this production.
This is Marie’s third year as Producer for the Frivs, and Marie hopes you will enjoy tonight’s performance, which is a credit to Marie and her production team.

MUSICAL DIRECTOR
Edith Ferguson
The Frivs this year are indeed fortunate to have once again Edith to direct all choral and orchestral arrangements. For five years Edith has been our Musical Director and I’m sure you will be pleased with the results of her imagination.
All credit must surely go to Edith for this performance. In private life she is a registered music teacher of piano and theory.

CHOREOGRAPHER
Dawn Mayo
The bright dancing and movement in tonight’s show has been under the control of Dawn, who has rejoined the Frivs after an absence of many years. The Frivs are indeed proud to have Dawn in this important role and trust she will be with us for many years to come. Dawn also has her own dancing school.

STAGE MANAGER
Colin Gable
After many years backstage with the Frivs, Colin has the necessary expertise to carry out this part of the Frivs production. From building the scenery to getting the show on the road, this task is not always easy. Grateful thanks are extended to all those who helped Colin backstage.

WARDROBE MISTRESS
Evelyn Foster
Evelyn’s first year with the Frivs, and I’m sure you’ll agree the costumes are indeed bright and colourful once again. This is a major part of the Frivs activity, and we would like to thank Evelyn for the long hours of work she has put in, in this special department.

TREASURER
John Reed
Looking after all the Frivs financial aspects, John has carried out this job for the past three years. Sometimes a thankless task, John is certainly a valuable asset to our show. Also playing clarinet in our orchestra, we thank John for his efforts.

Looking back over the years since I joined the Frivs (60 years ago, 1918), I think with great pleasure of the enthusiasm of the men and women I have known and performed with. Their loyalty and talent have been the means whereby the Frivs have been in existence for the past 82 years.

With this spirit continuing for the next 19 years the members will have the pleasure of celebrating their 100th Jubilee in 1997.
